Born in Marion County to the late Alexander Taylor and Minnie Owens Baker, she graduated from Draughns Business College and was formerly employed by Marion Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Edward W. Whittington, Jr. (Donna) of Mullins, Dr. John M. Whittington (Jane) of Marion, and William A. "Bill" Whittington (Barbara) of Hickory, N.C.; four grandchildren, Leah W. Weston (Carter) and Lindsay W. Creech (Stephen) both of Columbia, Dr. J. Carson Whittington (Alicia) of Marion, and Alexander M. Whittington of Charleston; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Baker Cemetery.
