Samuel Irvin Miller, well known and respected businessman of the Saxton area, died at his Stonerstown home on October 1,1956. Mr. Miller, born at Saxton on June 1, 1894, was a son of John W. and Addie Mae (Putt) Miller. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Maude Cleeves in Saxton on December 29, 1920. The deceased was a World War I veteran and served in the Army of occupation in France for one year. He had enlisted in Bedford on February 11, 1918, and was discharged at Camp Dix, New Jersey, on March 3, 1919. During his tour of duty in France he served as an engineer. Mr. Miller owned and operated a garage and gas station in Stonerstown for 30 years. On April 27, 1936 he was appointed fire warden and served for 20 years.. Surviving are his widow; five children, William I. of Saxton, Mrs. Ruth King of Bath, Michigan; Mrs. Betty Barrett of Bad Axe, Michigan; Ellis John (Jack) and Harry Robert, both at home; three brothers, Arch and Mark Miller of Kent, Ohio, and Clyde Miller of Akron, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth (Dolly) Fisher of Bedford; Mrs. Ollie Dennis of Saxton; Mrs. Mary Pedigo, of Akron and Mrs. Edith Fisher of Clearville. Two infants preceded him in death.
