French Princess. Daughter of Duke Peter I of Bourbon and Count of Clermont, descendant of the King of France Saint Louis IX, she married Peter I of Castile (1352), thanks to agreements between the King of France John II and Mary, Queen Mother of Portugal, becoming so Consort Queen of those lands. The marriage was not happy because of her husband's infidelity, who later repudiated Blanche (1354) and even imprisoned her (1359), taking advantage of the nullity of the marriage for causes such as an alleged marital infidelity, and the non-payment of her dowry. In 1361, the story took on a tragic end with the death of Blanche de Bourbon who according to historians was assassinated by poisoning by her husband.
