Kathy Joy Griffith Yates, age 59, passed away unexpectedly due to complications from heart surgery on November 16, 2011 in Murray, Utah.
She was born April 2, 1952 in Pensacola, Florida to parents Harold W. Griffith and Kathleen L. Griffith. She attended Pensacola High School in 1970.
She married Edward A. Yates on February 27, 1971 in Pensacola, Florida. Kathy is of the Christian faith. She is known as wife, mother, Boppy, sister, and friend.
Kathy touched the heart of everyone she met. She loved the outdoors from camping in the mountains to swimming at the beach. She always lived life to the fullest.
She was a member of the Great Harvest Family Church for the past twenty years and will be fiercely missed by all who knew her. A truly beautiful soul.
She is survived by husband, Edward A. Yates; children, Melany (John) McCann and Tiffany (Thomas) Clupp; siblings, Suzanne (Fred) Weathers, Donny (Dot) Griffith, Jerry (David) Pitman, Larry (Diane) Griffith, Marilyn (Adrian) Craig, and Vicki (Tim) Grantham; and grandchildren, Spencer Clupp, Ryan Clupp, Emily Clupp, Ian Karlin, Ashton McCann, Kyleigh McCann, and Shealeigh McCann. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Kathleen Griffith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek, Utah. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment will be held at Bayview Memorial Park in Pensacola, Florida on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.
