Revolutionary War Soldier. Enlisted May 1777 at Mansfield, Tolland County, Connecticut, in a Company of militia commanded by Capt. Wales in the Regiment under command of Col. Latimore. Wounded at Ticonderoga.

Statement of Nathan's grandson, dated December 25, 1858, indicates "I think it is about 22 or 23 years since my grandfather N. Wood died it is something near the time."

Nathan's participation as a Patriot Soldier in the American Revolution was told about in Season 2, Episode 9 of "Finding Your Roots" (PBS, Henry Louis Gates Jr). Henry told the story of Nathan to Guest David Sedaris., Both David and I (Grant Sullivan Jr.), are 4th great-grandsons of Nathan Wood & Lucy (Johnson) Wood via their daughter Nancy (Wood) Brown.

Nathan & Lucy had the following children:
1) Jerusha J (Wood) Underwood (1784 - 1857)
2) Nancy (Wood) Brown (1786 - 1862)
3) Lucy Wood (1787 - 1883)
4) Mary "Polly" (Wood) Balch (1791 - 1850)
5) Lora / Laura (Wood) Abbey (1792 - 1876)
6) Hannah (Wood) Abbey (1794 - 1874)
