JASPER — Alice Henrietta Pyle, age 80, of Jasper, Mo., passed away at 11:30 a.m. on May 16, 2008, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood. She had been a resident of the nursing home for the past 12 months.
Alice was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Lockwood, Mo. Her parents were William and Dora (Eggerman) Schilling. She graduated from Lockwood High School in 1946.
She married Harley Pyle on Nov. 6, 1948. He preceded her in death in December 2001.
Alice and Harley greatly enjoyed their square dancing for over 35 years. Alice also enjoyed gardening and canning the produce of her labor. She cherished her family and found great joy in her grandchildren. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, of Lockwood.
Survivors include her sons, Stanley Pyle and wife, Gladys, of Carterville, Mo., Calvin Pyle and wife, Carol, of Golden City, Mo., and Merlin Pyle and wife, Ramona, of Carthage, Mo.; her sisters, Frances Childers and friend, Bill Howey, of Kansas City, Mo., and Dorily Miller and her husband, Ron, of Raytown, Mo.; her brothers, Gilbert Schilling and wife, Beverly, of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Raymond Schilling and wife, Lucille, of Fraser, Mich.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, of Lockwood. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, at the Lockwood Funeral Chapel in Lockwood. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Lockwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Services are under the care of Lockwood Funeral Chapel.
