She was born in the vicinity of Somobor-Kotari, Pod Okic, Croatia (west of Zagreb), the daughter of Joseph and Maggie (Tandaric) Obraz. Her original first name was Aloyza, but she went by Louise or "Lizzie" here in the U.S. She arrived in the U.S. on April 21, 1903 at Philadelphia on the ship Hannover, listed as Loyza ObraR (misintepretation of handwriting). She lived in Youngstown, Ohio and married Slavko Pacic at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church there on February 15, 1904. The family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1909, to Battle Creek, MI in 1910, and to Albion, Michigan in 1912. She had several children. Aloyza died of a hemmorage as a result of a stillborn child (male) who is interred with her at the gravesite. There are numerous descendants today who spell their surnames several ways: Pasic, Pasick, Passic, and Passick, most of whom live in the Albion and Eaton Rapids, Michigan areas today. The flower urn at Loyza's gravesite is made from World War II bomb parts! Read the interesting story about it by clicking on the urn photo here and reading the text accompanying it... Half brother: Ignatz Obraz #10674265.
