The great, great, great grandson of Eberhard and Dorothea Anheuser, the grandson of George C. and Alice Anheuser Nall and Percival C. Barnes, M.D. and Harriet Barnes. Although he was the only son of P.C. and Dorothea Barnes he was a beloved brother of five sisters and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. The children all vied for his attention and he was generous with it. I remember being a child and following him anywhere he would allow. I always wanted to go with him on his errands. Most of the time I was allowed to go.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He wrote faithfully to his mother.
He left when I was about four years old and when he returned I didn't recognize him. That didn't last long. All of the pets in our family home were devoted to him.
Sharon JoAnn Parks Barnes was his loving wife.
They had no children of their own, they had all of the nieces and nephews. Parents used to beg their children to come home, Bud and JoAnn's was so much fun!
Bud was a police officer. Realizing a need for one,he and his wife started the Lenox Rural volunteer Fire Department, Bud served as the first fire chief. They donated a portion of their own property to build a fire station.
On his farm he raised Charolais Cattle.
Bud also shared his father's love of animals. He had various breeds of dogs through the years, for a time he raised rabbits, had a pet crow for many years and he loved fishing. For the outdoor aspect he claimed to like hunting. When it came to killing an animal he didn't like it.
Bud had been through kidney dialysis and had a kidney transplant. When the kidney failed he chose not to go through it all again.
On December 25, 1995 he was visited by a friend he had known since kindergarden. They talked and watched some television and had Christmas Dinner with JoAnn . After dinner the friend left.

At four PM his wife went into the bedroom to find Bud had passed away.

I was in Chicago, Il. It was my daughter's turn to come home for Christmas. She was in her seventh month of pregnancy and was advised not to travel.
Her father and I went to spend Christmas with her and her husband. After dinner we returned to our hotel and had a message; it was my sister calling to inform us of my brother's death.
