Fero Porter Rice, 88, of Marion Center RD 1, died Tuesday, Aug. 17,1999, at Bash's Personal Care Home,Commodore RD 1.
The son of Porter and Nettie Burnheimer Rice, he was born in Green Township on Sept. 18,1910.
Fero was a World War II veteran. He served as a private in the U.S. Army. He was also a retired coal miner, having worked nearly 14 years at the Commodore mines. He was a member of the NBA and Clymer American Legion Post 222.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister,Nellie Henry; and the following brothers: Frederick, Albert, Benjamin, Blaine, Donald, Harvey, Steel and Clair Rice.
Fero is' survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends; will be received today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Hillsdale, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Prewitt C.
Duncan officiating.
Interment will be in the East, Union Cemetery, Taylorsville;
(Clymer RD 1). Graveside military honors will be provided by members of Clymer American Legion Post 222.
