MIDLAND,MARYLAND -- Dennis Lee Bartlett, 65, of O'Mara Avenue, Midland, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born on Oct. 5, 1946, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Ralph and Betty (Truly) Simpson. He was also preceded in death by a very special grandmother, Lula Truly.

He was member of the Midland Grace United Methodist Church and a graduate of Beall High School, Frostburg. He had worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk. Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving two tours of duty in the Vietnam War, where he became a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. He was a former lifetime member of the Alvin C. Neat Post 5280 V.F.W., Lonaconing, and a former member of the John P. Devlin Post 169 American Legion, Midland.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Kay (Blucker) Bartlett; his son, Jason Lee Bartlett; two brothers, Gary Simpson and wife Linda, of Bluelick Commons and William Simpson and wife Liz, of LaVale; one sister, Debra Simpson Parks and husband Don, of LaVale; two sisters-in-law, Judy Jamieson and husband Jim, of Ohio and Janet Thrasher and husband Jack, of Bowling Green; one brother-in-law, Bob "Tuck" Blucker, of Midland; two special aunts, Phyllis and Anna Mae; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Dan Jones and wife Lynn, of Gilmore and Ed Jones and wife Sam, of Midland.

Family and friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home P.A. (www.eichhornmckenzie.com) Lonaconing, on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Harry Burchell officiating.

At his request, he will be cremated.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who took excellent care of Dennis, Dr. Devlin, Dr. Mahal, Dr. Matyasik, and Dr. Ranjithan and the nurses of the ICU of WMRMC.

A special thank you is also extended to Dennis's cousin, Melinda.
