In 2006, Jason received a double lung transplant at the University of Washington in Seattle. Thanks to the expertise of Dr. Michael Mulligan and Dr. Jeff Edelman. Jason had two years of vibrant health and unobstructed breathing. In December 2007, he contracted a viral pneumonia. He fought valiantly and with great courage, but was unable to recover. He passed away at Rogue Valley Medical Center on January 29, 2008.
Family was important to Jason. He loved camping, hiking and fishing. He found music and films, especially comedies, irresistible.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to this community, who generously and majestically rallied their heartfelt compassion to provide the means for his transplant. The family also extends special thanks to Jason's medical team, who embodied the best we can hope for in humanity: compassion, respect, honesty, thoroughness and the utmost in expertise; and to Dr. Petey Lao: We will love you forever.
Jason is survived by his daughter, Renya; mother, Sandra Looney; father, Luther Looney; step-father, Ehrahim ("Bobby") Ali; sister, Alexandra Wilson-Ali of Medford, Ore.; nephew, Dominic Norum; and niece, Alexis Bozeman.
Memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9th, 2008. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Foundation for Transplants, 1102 Brookfield Road, Ste. 200, Memphis, TN 38119
