U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Dickinson College in 1912, then engaged in the manufacture of lime, crushed stone, and refractory dolomite, at York, Pennsylvania, (1916-36). He was president of National Lime Association, Washington, D.C. (1936-46), chairman of York City Housing Authority (1949-52), plus vice president and chairman of executive committee, of the York County Gas Company. In 1953, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-third Congress, serving until 1955 and elected to the Eighty-fifth Congress, serving (1957-59). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was owner of a large tract of a woodland timbering operation and was a trustee of Dickinson College, until his death.
