Letha Hellums, 70, of Vina, Ala., died Aug. 4, 2005, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born in Alabama to Curren and Mildred Mitchell Blackburn. She was a seamstress for Blue Bell for 21 years, a member of James Chapel Missionary Baptist Chapel and an avid Alabama fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one grandson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Deaton Funeral Home chapel, with Brother Eugene Digby and Brother Allen Lesley officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Jack Hellums, of Vina, Ala.; four daughters, Theresa Sparks and husband, W.C., of Belmont, Miss., Mary Irene Franklin and husband, Troy, of Bull Mountain, Ala., Judy Brown and husband, Robert, of Madison, Ala., and Jackie Nichols and husband, Billy, of Golden, Miss.; one son, Jack Dewayne Hellums and wife, Lori, of Madison, Ala.; one sister, Elloise Hellums, Vina, Ala.; and one brother, William Blackburn, of Red Bay, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, Melinda Sparks Randolph and husband, Sammy, Haleyville, Ala., Jamie Willis Sparks, Tishomingo, Miss., Kristy Hunt, Hamilton, Ala., Kelly Ward, Saltillo, Miss., Kandy Lundy, Bull Mountain, Ala., Joseph Brown, Madison, Ala., Ashley Brown, Birmingham, Ala., Michael Paul Nichols, Golden, Miss., Patrick Nichols, Red Bay, Ala., Brandon Nichols, Golden, Miss., and Jackson Hellums, Madison, Ala.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons-in-law. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, and will continue until service time today. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, is directing.
