Rites For Douglas Baxter Will Be Held Friday — Stephen A. Douglas Baxter died Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. after an illness of one year. He was born in Shelby county in [1861], son of George and Elizabeth Jones Baxter and spent his entire life in Shelby county as a farmer. He married Harriet Idella Quigley [September 11, 1887], who preceded him in death 11 years ago. Nine children survive. They are Miss Ima Baxter, Chicago; Mrs. C. E. Olehy, Taylorville; Mrs. A. D. Butts, Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. W. H. Fisher, Sullivan; Mrs. Verna Dolan, Springfield; Mrs. E. J. Leonard, Decatur, Ill.; T. Edward Baxter, Chicago; Earl H. Baxter, Coast Auxiliary stationed on the west coast and Mrs. J. C. Anthony, Chicago. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Olmstead, South Bend, Ind., and one brother, Thomas Baxter, El Dorado Springs, Mo.
