Doris Stallings passed away on Nov 11, 2011 in Santa Barbara, CA with her family at her side. She was 90 years old. Born in Avon South Dakota on May 19, 1921 to parents William and Edith Dickerson. Doris arrived in Santa Barbara at age 7. Doris attended Hope School, LaCumbre Jr. High and graduated Santa Barbara High class of 1938.
In 1944 she married Robert W. Stalling of Santa Barbara. Doris and Bob were neighbors when they met. After Marrying, they built a house between their families' homes where they resided ever since. When she lived in San Francisco, Doris went to work as a secretary at the Kaiser Co. shipyard in Richmond, CA. In 1945 she had the honor of christening the USS General James H McRae.
Doris was a woman with unlimited compassion and kindness. She dedicated her life to her family and was loved and respected by everyone whose life she touched.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, sisters; Carol Houston and Wilma Underwood, and her brothers Glen Dickerson and Morris (Bud) Dickerson. Doris is survived by her husband Robert, children Pamella Stallings of Santa Barbara, Robert Stallings Jr. (Marilyn McGraw) of McCall, ID, Terry Leden (Craig) of Eagar, AZ, Scott Stallings of Santa Barbara, Sally Bass (Rick) of Woodland Hills, grandchildren; Ronnie Albright, Sarah, Christina, Carly and Brett Bass, sister Vivian Leslie of Santa Barbara and numerous nieces and nephews.
