Gracie Louise Walters, 96, passed into heaven, Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Charles Stewart will officiate. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home. Louise was born in Johnson County, Oct. 6, 1916, to William and Mollie Brand. She was happily married to Howard Walters for 43 years. They met when she was working in Itasca at the Itasca Cotton Manufacturing Company. She was in charge of operating five looms. After World War II, they bought their first home in Fort Worth. Louise was always active in the church. She taught children's Sunday school at Polytechnic Baptist Church, and also was a member of Golden Gate Baptist Church and Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, where she taught an adult women's class and sang in the senior choir. She was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress and artist. Louise and Howard loved traveling and bird watching together. Like all good mothers, she gave of her time to her family and worked in the PTA, Cub Scouts, G.A.s and chauffeured her children to choir practices, piano lessons, tennis lessons, church and school activities, and so much more. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; and all brothers and sisters. The family of Gracie Louise Walters wishes to thank Mansfield Nursing and Rehab, and Mission Hospice for their care and compassion. Survivors: Son, Donald Walters and wife, Ruth Anne; daughter, Jana Ketchum and husband, Jerry; five grandchildren and their spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.
