Eleanor A. Webb, 90 of Gering, Nebraska died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Northfield Villa Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 17, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Gering with The Very Reverend Gary Young officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. At her request, Eleanor was cremated. Eleanor was born on February 22, 1916 near Minatare, Nebraska to William B. and Louella R. (Schoonover) Russell. She moved to Morrill when she was 2 years old and graduated from Morrill High School in 1933. She moved to Minatare where she worked for John R. Jirdon Industries later working for Great Western Sugar Factory until it closed. She married William H. Webb on May 14, 1938 in Ft. Collins, Colorado and to this union two sons were born. In 1940, they moved to Scottsbluff where she worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, later working for 20 years for the Scotts Bluff County as a secretary and court stenographer, retiring in 1978. Her husband William died in October of 1975. In 1987, she moved to Northfield Villa, where she resided until her death. Eleanor was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Gering and a member of PEO Chapter G.I. Survivors include her sons William "Bill" Webb of Arlington, Texas and Jerome "Jerry" Webb of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren; one great grandson and foster daughter Linda Corcoran of Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Jim Russell and sisters Erma Andrew, Ethel Johnston, Christel Fleenor and Mayme McNally.
