MARY ROSETTA FIEDLER HARDMAN, 90, of Spencer, WV, passed away on November 9, 2011, at Roane General Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. She was born on November 9, 1921 in Morgantown, WV, daughter of the late Jessie Henshaw and Stanley Huff Fiedler.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charles Owen Hardman.

She is survived by
her sons, C. Stan Hardman and wife Donna, Fred C. Hardman and wife Martha, Thomas F. Hardman and wife Susan, all of Spencer;
daughter, Sarah H. Giachino and husband Nick of St. Charles, Ill ;
grandchildren, Jamie Loving and husband James of McLean, VA, Gwen Lowry and husband Kirk of Charlotte, NC, Elizabeth Ricks and husband Colin of Doylestown, PA, Owen Hardman of Spencer WV and Olivia and Victoria Giachino of St. Charles, IL;
Great grandchildren, Adelaide and Charlotte Loving of McLean, VA, Eliza and Thomas Kirkpatrick Lowry of Charlotte, NC;
her sister, Jessie Fiedler McClain of Huntington WV;
sister-in-law, Anna-Neale Houck Samworth of Charlotte, NC;
nieces, Mary Frazier of Isle of Palms, SC and Amy Joyner of Nashville TN, Janet Butts of Moorefield, WV, Gwen Brady of Charlotte, NC and Anna Neale Taylor of Spencer;
nephews, Charles Houck of Beckley, WV and John Denbigh of Spencer.

Mary attended Stephens College in Columbia Missouri and graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in History. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and an R.O.T.C. sponsor. Mary was devoted to her church and her community. She was a member of the St Johns United Methodist Church. She organized and served as one of the founders of the St Johns United Methodist Church Kindergarten in 1955. She was also past president of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Anna King Circle and the St. Johns Methodist Pastor Parish Relations Committee. Mary centered her life around her family. She was a Cub Scout Den mother for her sons. She enjoyed sewing and made matching summer dresses for daughter. Mary was an excellent cook and always prepared her famous buckwheat cakes for her family on Sunday mornings before church. Mary enjoyed photographing her family events and loved to travel with Charlie to distant locations around the world. For over 70 years she enjoyed playing bridge once a week with her lifelong friends.

Funeral service at St. Johns United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Ludle officiating, assisted by Rev. Art Tucker. Graveside service at Spencer Memorial Cemetery.
