Indian Campaigns Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Entered the service at Cincinnati, Ohio and served as a First Sergeant in Company A, 5th U.S. Cavalry. At Turret Mountain, Arizona on March 25 1873 he showed gallantry in action against hostile Indians. His citation was issued on August 12, 1875.
