"Several from here attended the funeral of Thomas S. James, commonly known as Uncle Bud at Graham on Monday. He died on Saturday night, June 24th. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Revs. Holmes and Simpson in a short buy appropriate service, at three o'clock P.M. A large crowd of people were present to witness the last sad rites of a loved friend and neighbor. He was a soldier of the Civil War and almost a life long soldier of Christ. He died a member of the Graham Presbyterian Church.
He leaves a wife, who is very feeble, a daughter and three sons, and many other relatives. One son and a daughter are dead. Uncle Bud had passed his fourth score year and will be missed by many people as he was kind, loving and helpful. The remains were laid to rest in Graham cemetery with appropriate ceremonies at the grave. The floral tributes were beautiful."
