Lillian Anna Eastman, 88, of Newport died on November 3, 2011, in Derby, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 8, 1923, in Newport Center, a daughter of Richard and Gertrude (Hazard) Smith. On October 31, 1959, she married Mahlon "Red" Eastman who predeceased her on December 24, 1998.
Before moving to Vermont, she and her late husband lived in Hudson, Massachusetts, where she was employed by Koehler MFG. She was a former member of the Eagles Club in Hudson. She loved her cats and she enjoyed crocheting and attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her children: Kathleen Bowen and her husband, Winston, of Derby, Carolin McCarthy and her husband, Raymond, of Derby, and Willard Armstrong of Waltham, Massachusetts; 12 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce, at the age of one; by two brothers: Elmer and Earl Smith; and by several stepsisters and stepbrothers.
Funeral services were held on November 8 in Newport. Interment followed in Newport Center Cemetery.
