Geraldine "Geri" M. Kramer, 90, of Dubuque, died peacefully at home, on Friday, November 11, 2011, in the loving arms of her family. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Dubuque, with Pastor Arnold Flater officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the church, until time of services. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Rd is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on March 2, 1921, in Dubuque, daughter of Harry and Emma (Karsch) Oswald. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1939. She married the love of her life, Eldon R. Kramer, on February 7, 1944 and they were blessed with 67 love-filled years together. Geri retired from the Dubuque Packing Company where she worked in "slice bacon" and pitched on the softball team, in the early years. Over the years, she enjoyed playing cards, bowling and ballroom dancing with Eldon. She was a devoted wife and a generous, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and we in turn will forever cherish her memory and the special way she blessed each of our lives.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon; two daughters, Sandra (Larry) Glider of Oswego, IL, and Linda Kramer-Abing (Jerry Abing) of Dubuque; three grandchildren: Todd Glider of Hammond, IN, Tracy (Tom) McDermott of Peosta, IA and Jenn Glider (Kent Wood) of Morrison, CO; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Cleova Ball, Arlene Shetler, Bernice Loring, Shirley Chatfield and Joyce O'Meara.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Geri's name. The family thanks Dubuque Retirement Community, Iowa Hospice, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Stephen Ministry and family and friends for their love, support and prayer.
