Killed at Smyrna
Thomas Hall of Smyrna was struck by lightning and instantly killed on the fair grounds at that place on last Friday afternoon. In company with other men and teams of horses he was at work on the grounds, seeking shelter in the horse barns when the storm came up. The bolt of lightning struck the barns and ran along the tim roof for several hundred feet, killing Mr. Hall and six horses, and knocking unconscious Omer Romans and Marvin Decker, and two boys by the name of Luyster, the first named being the least affected, soon recovering sufficiently to go to the Doctor. The men and horses were in different stalls. Mr. Decker and the Luyster boys were so severely shocked that it was at first feared they would not regain consciousness, but they recovered from the shock after a time and are now reported as showing no ill effects from their experience.
