Mary Crisp Bright was born in Bolivar, Hardeman, TN, to Greenberry Bright (1803-1896) and Elizabeth Hollyfield Crisp Bright (1806-1883). After her father's tannery partnership almost went under after the Civil War, he returned 'to die' where he was born, Lincoln County, KY. He lived a long time and was successful in farming and raising stock. Mary married Robert Lee White (1834-1909) (son of Sabre Anne McNeese White and John D. White, son of Luke), 22 Mar 1855 in Hardeman County, TN. She is mentioned in the Carpenter Letter, which tells about the Bright Inn of old Lincoln County.
