Helt's Prairie
Saturday night occurred the death of Mrs. Youmans, mother of Mrs. Huron
Southard. She has made her home for some time with her daughter, and has received every attention during her long affliction. Had she lived until Monday, it would have been the 85th year anniversary of her birth and also of her marriage.

Julia A. Youmans was born in Virginia, October 9, 1814. She was a member of the M.E. Church for 60 years. She was married October 9, 1832 to Jessie R. Youmans, who died in the State of Kansas November 10, 1892. She spent most of her life in Parke County. Her home in an early day was a place of public worship, and where the itinerant minister always found shelter. Her children and neighbors knew her but to love her for her many kindly acts and deeds.
