Ruth Wood Campbell

After bravely battling and enduring a difficult illness, Ruth Wood Campbell blessedly and peacefully passed into God's hand on June 13, 2005, with her loving family at her side.

She lost her husband, Woodrow 'Pete' Wilson Campbell, in 1974. Ruth built her home, which she loved and enjoyed for many years, in Westlake Village 20 years ago, after moving from McLean, Va.

She was born in Rexburg, Idaho, on Aug. 1, 1928, and was one of eight children born to Joseph Hirst Wood and Ida Oly Meyers.

Ruth is survived by four children; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and four brothers.

Ruth, who was affectionately called 'Mimi' by her family, was a woman of integrity, strength, generosity and character. She enjoyed family vacations, gardening, and was an accomplished cook who loved to entertain her family on any and all occasions. She was the glue that held her family so tightly together. She was our inspiration and taught us the lessons of life through example ... perseverance, passion, drive, determination, compassion, self-confidence and the importance of family. She was there for us all ... all the time. We are forever grateful as the best of us comes from her. She will forever be in our hearts and will never be forgotten. Mimi was a great lady.

There are many to thank but we must single out Marty and Faye, who spent countless days and nights caring for Mimi.

Ruth's life will be celebrated at a memorial service in her honor at 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, at The Church of the Epiphany, 5450 Churchwood Drive, Oak Park. Burial will follow at Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Cancer Institute at http://www.cancerresearch.org/giving/giving.html.

Please dedicate your donation to pancreatic cancer research. We want to express our gratitude to all of our friends and family for their understanding, care and support.
