U.S. Congressman. After graduating from high school, he worked as a farmer and served in the U.S. Army during World War I. After the war, he was salesman; farmer; secretary to United States Representative Lindsay C. Warren, (1924-40). In 1940, he was elected simultaneously as a Democrat to the Seventy-sixth and Seventy-seventh Congresses to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of U.S. Representative Lindsay C. Warren, reelected to the Seventy-eighth Congress and to the next eleven succeeding Congresses, serving until his death at age 74.
