Mother of renowned evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson.

The parents of Minnie Pearce were born in England. The maiden name of her mother was Clark.

After the death of her parents, Minnie went to live with foster parents. She was enrolled as a Soldier in the Christian Faith of The Salvation Army.

Minnie was married in October 1886 in Michigan to James Morgan Kennedy of Salford, Ontario, Canada. One child was born of their union, Aimee Elizabeth.

She later traveled with her daughter and grandchildren, Roberta Star Semple and Rolf Kennedy McPherson, to Los Angeles, California, where she purchased the property in Echo Park for Angeles Temple to be built.

In 1926 she mourned the loss of her only child, who she believed had drown while swimming in the Pacific Ocean, and later endured the publicity and scandal that surrounded the disappearance.

Minnie Kennedy took care of all the business of Angeles Temple for several years.

She was also a minister and evangelist. After leaving the work at Angeles Temple, she carried out other religious work on the West Coast.

In later years she lived in Hermosa Beach and renewed her membership and church attendance at The Salvation Army.

She was buried in her Salvation Army uniform.
