Carol Sorenson Hickman, age 84, of Salem, Utah passed away peacefully on July 1, 2010 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on July 23, 1925 at Fish Lake, Utah to Ephraim Clarence Sorenson and Louell Gottfredson. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Charles Waite Hickman, on August 30, 1944. Their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple on November 16, 1968.
Carol spent her younger years in Koosharem, Utah and spent summers at Fish Lake, Utah where her father was a fishing guide. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1943 and often spoke of the wonderful group of friends she had there. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She loved to play with her grand and great-grandchildren. She loved to laugh. Carol had many talents. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, paint, garden, and do crossword puzzles. Carol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings.
Carol is survived by her seven children: Larry (Diana) Hickman of Cornelius, OR; Kelly Hickman of Lebanon, OR; Roger (Toni) Hickman of Tecopa, CA; Ron (Marilyn) Hickman of Hollydale, CA; Doreen (Jay) Shaver of Draper, UT; Caren (Karl) Guymon of Spanish Fork, UT; and Susan (Kurt) Provost of Santaquin, UT; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and her beloved brother, Fount "Grumpy" (Pat) Sorenson of Torrance, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waite; and her sister, Fonda Cutrer.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10th at Knoll Park Ward, 160 S 460 W (just off SR198), Salem, Utah. Family and friends may call from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Benjamin Utah Cemetery.
