He was born April 24, 1918 in Hoboken, NJ to Leon and Bridgett (Jenkins) Antenne. Bob graduated from the Hoboken High School in 1936 and then entered the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged. He met his future wife, Katharine Leary where they were stationed together in Roswell, NM and were married on July 24, 1946 in Rice Lake, WI. Bob worked as General Manager of the Rice Lake Chronotype from 1947 - 1972. He also owned and operated the Rice Lake Travel Agency from 1973 - 1986. Bob and Kay traveled the World and had cottages on Bear Lake and Couderay which they truly enjoyed. They loved to entertain people. Bob was a member of the Elk's, Kiwanis and Knights of Columbus.
Robert Antenne is survived by his wife, Katharine "Kay" Antenne of Rice Lake, WI; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerry & LuEtta Antenne of Rice Lake, WI; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary & Jon Austin of Hebron, CT; 5 grandchildren, Steve Willert, Julie Lindquist, Brenda Kemp, David Antenne and Carol Antenne; 4 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Kathleen Randazzo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Bridgett Antenne; a brother, Leon Antenne and a sister, Mary Alger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, November 18, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, WI, Fr. James Powers officiating, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery where Military Rites will be accorded by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM Thursday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals and for 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. There will be a Wake Service at 7:30 PM and an Elk's Memorial Service at 7:45 PM Thursday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
