Death of Mr. Alex Julian
Mr. Alexander Julian, one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of this county, died at his home near Bridgeport, at a quarter past twelve o'clock, on Tuesday night, after a brief illness with heart disease, aged 72 years. The deceased had been in remarkably good health for one of his years up to within a few weeks past, when he was attacked with heart trouble and had been confined to the house, but not to bed all the time, and when death came to him he was sitting up in an armed chair.
The deceased was a farmer all his life, in which business he had been very successful, and owned at the time of his death one of the largest and best farms in the section of the county in which he lived.
He was a widower – his wife, formerly Miss Laughland [sic], of Clark County, having proceeded him to the grave some twenty years ago – and leaves seven children, viz: Messrs: Char. H. and Clarence and Miss Lucy Julian, of this county; Mrs. George W Chinn, of this city; Mr. Alex Julian, of Cincinnati; Hon. Henry Julian of Kansas City, Missouri and Mr. Tarlton Julian, of Mt. Sterling, to mourn his loss.
It is little singular that Mr. Julian should die at the same age at which three other members of his family passed away, viz: his brother Mr. John Julian, and his sisters Mrs. Ann Russell, of this county, and Mrs. Mitchell, of Danville, all of whose deaths occurred in their 72d year.
The funeral took place Thursday afternoon from the Christian Church and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Cemetery in this city.
