He was united in marriage to Martha Recher on November 8, 1931, in the bride's home in May City. He farmed all of his working life.
Henry was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a long-time treasurer of his church.
He passed away at Hartley, Iowa, on June 19, 1988, at the age of 93. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, John, Bill and August, and two sisters, Minnie and Dora.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Delores, (Mrs. Roger) Sommers, and Arlene (Mrs. David) Zielske, both of Faribault, Minnesota, and one son, Kenneth of Hartley, twelve grandchildren along with many relatives and friends.
