M.J. served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Highland Mountain Freewill Baptist Church, where he loved singings, and his church family. He worked for many years for Potters Building Supply Company.
M.J. leaves behind his brothers: L.N. Harris of Monterey, Jerry Harris of Livingston, J.B. Harris and wife Gale of Crawford, TN; sisters: Bessie Harris of Monterey and Carrie L. Vaughn of Livingston; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, M.J. was preceded in death by his wife: Bessie Smith Harris; sisters: Audie Mae Harris and Bertie Harris Davidson; brothers: Billy C. Harris and Joe L. Harris; nephews: Donnie Smith and Bobby L. Harris.
Funeral Services were conducted Saturday, October 7th from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. Derek Parsons officiated. Burial followed in the Oakley Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard.
