Clowanda M. Crawford, 78, Springfield, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, passed away at 6:51 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in St. John's Regional Health Care Center.
She was born June 14, 1933, in Galena, Missouri, the daughter of the late Barney and Sylvia (Wilkinson) Deering. She was united in marriage 1972 to Jimmy R. Crawford . He preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley "Bud" Skinner in 1989, a son, Michael Skinner and a brother, Frank Deering.
Clowanda was a member of Queen City Chapter 226, O.E.S.. She enjoyed floral designing, playing dominos and Wa Hoo, was an avid reader and doll collector, and NASCAR fan. She was a shining light to her family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by four sons, Kent Douglas Skinner and wife Michelle, Bowling Green, KY; Drew Bradley Skinner and wife Debbie, China; Milton Skinner and wife Darlene, Fair Grove; Craig Skinner and wife Pam, Battlefield; two brothers, Bill and Gary Deering, both of Sparta; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 – 7:00 p.m. with a memorial / Eastern Star service following at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville. The body has been cremated. Private burial in Eisenhour Cemetery in Spokane will be at a later date.
The family request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, c/o Abou Ben Adhem Temple, 601 E. St. Louis Street, Springfield, MO 65806.
