Cynthia Dawn Barnett Langley, 51, of Riceville, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at her residence.

She was born in Bradley County, and was a resident of McMinn County for most of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald R. "Don" Barnett; her maternal grandparents, Fred and Eula Walker; her paternal grandparents, Tom and Elizabeth Barnett; and aunts and uncles, Helen Walker Trotter, Maxine Walker Holland, Hoyle Lee Walker, Gail and Gaynelle Walker, Dianne "Dodie" Walker Pierce, Ralph Barnett, James "J.B." Barnett, Fred Barnett, Ruby Barnett Goforth and Bill Barnett.

She was a graduate of McMinn County High School Class of 1978 and Tennessee Wesleyan College Class of 1984. She was formerly employed in the accounting departments of Mayfield Dairy, Athens Stove Works, Coronet Carpets in Dalton, Ga., and Coca-Cola in Cleveland. She was a former office manager at NHC of Athens, co-owner of Hav A Tan in Athens, and taught math in Athens City Schools and Bradley County Schools.

She was the former treasurer of the Family Readiness Group of the 278th National Guard and was an avid sports fan of the Tennessee Vols. She had played basketball, tennis and softball and was a member of Woodward Avenue Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Langley of Riceville; one son, Luke Langley of Riceville; her mother, Dolores Walker Barnett of Athens; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jeffrey Don Barnett of Athens, and Joe and Anda Barnett of Dalton, Ga.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Charlsie Langley of Athens; one sister-in-law and her husband, Annette Langley and Mike Johnson of Athens; nieces and nephews, Justin and Anita Barnett and Lauren Johnson Monroe, all of Athens, Lindsey Barnett of Cookeville, Iian Barnett of Knoxville, and Torrey, Ashlyn, Brady and Seth Barnett, all of Dalton, Ga.; and great-nephews and great-nieces, Ty, Brooklyn and Bo Barnett and Leigha Monroe, all of Athens.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday at Woodward Avenue Church of God with the Rev. Wayne Fritts, the Rev. Clifford Waters and the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Fred Schultz, Justin Barnett, Ronnie Davis, Rusty Barnett, Mark Walker and Phil Pippenger. Preston Mosier will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
