Lila M. Puffer, 69, of Redfield, SD, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.

Her funeral will be Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Redfield. Reverend Stephen Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Altoona Cemetery near Hitchcock, SD. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. and Lila's family sharing some memories of Lila at 6:30 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Lila was born January 7, 1942 in Gettysburg, SD to Lloyd and Alta (Thompson) Shaw. She grew up in Gettysburg and attended Gettysburg schools. She lived and worked in Yukon, Oklahoma while she raised her two children. Lila moved to Redfield in 1979 and married Duane Puffer on August 31, 1979 in Huron. She worked at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield for a few years. Lila and Duane own and operate the Wilson Motor Inn, and she worked there until her death.

Lila enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading and was an avid Facebook user. Her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Lila is survived by her husband Duane of Redfield, her son Stephen Whitener of Tecumseh, OK and his children: Joshua and Amanda; and her daughter Mary Bultje of Sioux Falls, SD and her children: Trevor, Brianna and Bryson; and two great grandchildren, Joshua's children Ethan and Austin. She is also survived by her mother Alta Shaw of Pierre, SD; her sisters: Sheron Archer- Jost of Gettysburg; Vicki (Shorty) Tassler of Pierre; and her brother John (Lisa) Shaw of Creston, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Lloyd Shaw.
