NEW SALISBURY - Smith, Clyde "Dobie" Vernon, 74, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at University of Louisville Hospital.
Clyde was born April 4, 1937 near Byrneville, IN to the late Oral and Ethel Hess Smith. He was retired from Louisville Gas and Electric Company and a member of Northwest Christian Church, Depauw, IN.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine Smith; sons, Michael Smith (Lisa), of New Salisbury, Duane Smith (Dana), of New Albany, IN and Shawn Smith (Vanessa), of Jeffersonville, IN; daughter, Kim Galloway (John), of Georgetown, IN; brothers, Paul L. Smith (JoAnn), of Depauw, Howard Smith (Sin), of Dallas, TX and Larry Smith, of Tucson, AZ; sister, Janet Haycox (Kenneth), of Philadelphia, TN; grandchildren, Michael Beaven, Mistie Borders, Cindy Hall, Brandon Beaven, Morgan Beaven and Olivia Smith; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Smith and Gavin, Ava and Audrey Beaven.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Swarens Funeral Home, 1405 Hwy 64 NW, with burial in Wolfe Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation: noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
