George was united in marriage on August 20, 1949 in Oak Park, Illinois to the former Rosemarie Svoboda and they spent the next 54 happy years of their lives together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Becvar was for many years an electrician in the Chicago area and member of I.B.E.W. Local 134. George was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country during W.W. II. He was a life member of the Stickney V.F.W. and the American Legion. Mr. Becvar enjoyed many outdoor activities including lawn bowling, boating, fishing, golfing and was a champion horse shoe pitcher with many trophies to his credit. George and Rosemarie also enjoyed playing bingo with their many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Becvar of Somonauk, Illinois; his sons, George (Deborah) Becvar Jr. of Glen, Mississippi, Allen Becvar of Lemont, Illinois, and Tim Becvar of Stickney, Illinois; his grandchildren, Brian and Nicole Becvar; and his brothers, Tom Becvar of Clear Water, Florida and Miles (VaLaura) Becvar of New Buffalo, Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Becvar Sr.
Funeral services for Mr. Becvar will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Mt. Auburn Funeral Home in Stickney, Illinois with Pastor James T. Gottwald, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, Illinois.
Friends may call from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South St., in Plano, Illinois, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the Mt. Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 S. Oak Park Ave. in Stickney, Illinois, and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.
