Younger brother of Reuben Chancellor; He married Frances Dickson (a sister of Reuben's wife)on 10 Nov 1838 in Wilcox County, AL. They were charter members of the Garland Baptist Church (est. 1862) in Garland, Butler County, AL, where they lived until after 1880 according to census records.

Since this MEMORIAL marker was placed in the 1990's, more information has become available on Jackson Chancellor. His unit information may be incorrect as he never left Alabama. His correct unit probably is Butler County Home Guard or Jackson's Co, 35th AL RES. His father's will, who died in 1859, states that he was in Butler County, AL as does the 1860 Census. There is much confusion with the name Jackson Chancellor and Daniel Jackson Chancellor.

He and his wife are most likely buried in the Garland Cemetery near the Garland Baptist Church. At least one son is documented as being buried there. Evidently there are no markers for them there. Not knowing where his actual burial location is, the Reuben Chancellor family has honored his memory by placing a memorial marker in the same cemetery with Jackson's brother, Reuben.
