Oscar Edwards
Fairmont--Funeral services for Oscar Edwards, 73, a retired farmer of Fairmont, Rt 3, who died saturday at the NC Cancer Institute, will be held Tuesday at 3 pm from the Fairmont Church of God by the Rev Lewis Hatchell assisted by Rev Jimmy Waddell. Burial will follow in the Bethesda Church Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Edwards.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca Stephens Edwards;one daughter, Mrs. Rudolph Cook of Rowland; four sons, Ray and Jimmy of Fairmont; Gary L. of Rowland, John M. of Holland, Michigan, two stepsons, Wallace Pittman of Dillon and J.W. Pittman of Fairmont; three sisters. Mrs. Mattie Bass and Mrs. Pinkie Barnes both of Farimont, Mrs. Letha Hilburn of Lexington; one brother, Johnny Edwards of Greenville, SC; 24 grandchildren, 12 great granchildren.
Pallbearers are Johnny Strickland, J.B. Lewis, Bowman Brooks, Foster Snipes, Gilbert Lewis, Larry Gerrald.
Flowers will be arranged by young women of the church.The women's chior of the church will sing.
The family will receive at Prevatte Funeral Home from 7-9 tonight.
