Lloyd served as a Private First Class, 12th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Nebraska prior to the war. Possibly in Frontier County since that was were he was born.

Lloyd was "Killed In Action" on Utah Beach in the D-Day invasion of France during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated here on August 3, 1948.

He was mistakenly noted as being from Maine (State At Large) on the "Honor List of Dead & Missing of World War II" at National Archives and may have a family tie to that state.

Pfc. Lloyd L. Hoon Burial at Maxwell

Burial services for Pfc. Lloyd L. Hoon who was killed in action on the Normandy beachhead on June 6, 1944, will be held at the Maxwell National cemetery at 10 am Tuesday, Aug. 3.

A former Ord resident, he went overseas to England in February 1944, with Co. I, 12 Inf., Fourth Motorized division.

He is survived by Walter Hoon, brother of Ord, and ten other brothers and sisters. His parents and a sister, Bessie, predeceased him.
Lloyd served as a Private First Class, 12th Infantry, 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.
