Shirley Mansfield Knight, 92, of Chicago, died at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, in her home. Born Nov. 22, 1918, in Chicago; the daughter of Maurice and Goldie (Krojanker) Nusbaum. Receiving her Master's degree from Rockford College, Shirley was a Senior Research Director at the University of Chicago. Member of Temple Beth-El, Rockford, and the Greater Rockford League of Women Voters. She is survived by her sister, Elsa Jeane Behr of Chicago; nephew, Joel Behr and family of Los Angeles, CA; and niece, Janice Behr Block and family of Seattle, WA. Predeceased by her husband, Marvin Mansfield; son, David Mansfield; father, Maurice Nusbaum; mother, Goldie Nusbaum; and stepmother, Ruth Barish Nusbaum. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, in Rockford Hebrew Cemetery, with Rabbi Binah Wing officiating. No visitation.
