Eugene A. Reiss, 71, of Pana, died Friday, November 11, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1940, the son of Anthony John & Regina Louise (Wessels) Reiss. He lived in the Pana area most of his life. He was a truck driver and had worked at Effingham Equity. An avid shuffleboard player, he also enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.
Gene was a member of Pana Lodge #226 AF&AM.
He married Shirley Walker and they later divorced.
He later married Kathy Moore on December 17, 1977 in Pana.
Gene is survived by his wife: Kathy Reiss, Pana, IL; nine children: Cheryl Riggs, Tempe, AZ; Teresa Corbett & husband Tony, Plano, IL; Lisa Ramey & husband Ron, Sandwich, IL; Jeanne Jump & husband Charles, Plano, IL; Pamela Kozar & husband Edward, Aurora, IL; Anthony Reiss & wife Mandy, Huntsville, NC; Stephen Reiss, Jeremy Reiss, and Chad Reiss, all of Pana, IL; 22 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother: Edward Reiss & wife Carol, Decatur, IL; sister: Eleanor Sweet & husband Jim, Smithfield, PA; and by numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughters Kelsey & Nina; and by his sisters: Marie Vanlue, Patty Reiss and Rose Maxwell.

Ronald Brown officiating will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Twin Pines Cemetery, Pana.
