Brown Scott of Roanoke, Va., and a former resident of Athens died at his home Tuesday following a lingering illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Scott of Athens. Mr. Scott attended schools in Athens and had been a merchant there until moving to Roanoke where he followed his trade until he becoming ill.
He was also a member of the Methodist Church of Athens and was married to the former Hattie Jane Pettery, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Pettery also of Athens.
Surviving, other than the wife are two daughters, Miss Helen Scott of Roanoke and Mrs. Mildred Palmer also of Roanoke, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Pennington of Princeton and two brothers, John I. and L. B. Scott, both of Athens. Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held in Roanoke tomorrow at 2 p.m. and interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery there.
