SERVICES SATURDAY FOR HARFORD SARGENT
Services were held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church for Harford Granville Sargent 79, who died December 11 at the Edgewood Nursing Home where he had been a patient for the preceding 11 days. Mr. Sargent, a lifelong resident of Strawberry Pt. died following a brief illness. Burial was in the Strawberry Point Cemetery. The Rev Robert Smith was the officiating clergyman.
Harford Granville Sargent was born June 28, 1884 in Strawberry Point, the son of Emery and [Margaret] Waite Sargent. On Feb 7, 1906, he was married to Nellie Jewett at Strawberry Point. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Carl (Donna) Moyle of St. Olaf, Mrs. Albert (Vione) Brooks of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Tom (Garnet) Guinand of Rockford, Ill; Mrs. C. W. (Vivian) Sandry of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Robert (Marian) Fredrick of Colona, Ill.; Mrs. Irving (Lois) Hansel of Marian, and Mrs. Donald (Evelyn) Franck of Keystone; and three sons, Robert of Center Point, Elwin of Guttenberg; and Donald of Arlington. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, a son, Verle who was killed in Service, three brothers and six grandchildren.
