Galician Royalty. Born Ordono Alphonse and second son of Alfonso III of Asturias, he was sovereign of Leon from 914 to 924 after a period of co-regency of the regions of Galicia - Leon. The death of his older brother Garcia allowed the unification of the two territories into a single kingdom. Ordono II is known by the nickname "El Magno" thanks to the territorial conquests carried out between 913 and 918 including Merida and the Islamic Calahorra and Arnedo. The following years, also due to a defeat suffered by a strong Muslim army (920), were turbulent and aimed at stabilizing the governability of the Kingdom. His last victory (923) was the conquest of Nájera.
