Mrs. C. M. WHITTENBURG
Mrs. C. M. WHITTENBURG, 77, passed away at 9:40 o'clock Saturday evening at her home here. She had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. L. C. MAGGERT of Shelbina, assisted by Rev. F. W. RIGG. Interment was in the Union cemetery south of Clarence.
As Julia Bessie WOOD, she was born June 21, 1867 on a farm in Macon county, the daughter of Hugh and Melcenia WOOD.
When a small child she with her parents moved to a farm in Shelby county, near Woodville.
On February 1, 1887 she was married in Macon to C. M. WHITTENBURG, who survives.
The couple lived on a farm south of Clarence until 1918 when they moved to Clarence where they have lived since that time. To this union three children were born, one daughter, Lucenia, died in infancy.
Mrs. WHITTENBURG was a member of the Methodist church.
Besides her husband she is survived by a son and daughter, Hugh WHITTENBURG of Poplar Bluff, Mrs. Quinn ADAMS, of southeast of Clarence, three brothers, W. B. WOOD, south of Clarence, W. T. WOOD, of Clarence, A. C. WOOD of Spokane, Wash., and a sister, Mrs. Walter O'BRYAN, of Lentner.
Two grandchildren, Mrs. Wayne ...y, southeast of Clarence, and ... WHITTENBURG, of Pittsburg, ... three great grandchildren ..., Patsy Dee and Don-... survive also.
