BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- State troopers said a Florida man died in a single-vehicle accident in Jefferson County this morning.
A statement from the Alabama Department of Public Safety said 69-year-old William McMurphy of Plant City, Fla., died in the 6:45 a.m. accident, which occurred on Interstate 59 one mile south of Birmingham.
McMurphy was traveling in a 2005 Freightliner, troopers said.
He was transported to UAB Hospital after the accident.
The mishap is being investigated by troopers.
McMurphy, William Judson., Jr. of Plant City, Fla., went home to Jesus November 12, 2011.
A service will take place at 7 p.m. November 17, 2011, at Harmony Baptist Church.
