CHILHOWIE, Va. Peggy Hayden Cardwell, age 62, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie. She was born in Smyth County, Va. to the late Leo and Cleo Hayden and was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracie Cardwell Goad; sisters, Willie Sanders and Ann Williams; and a brother, Roy Hayton. Peggy battled cancer for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and Friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Roger Cardwell; her son, Joe Cardwell, of the home; four sisters, Evelyn Olinger, New Jersey, Dot Call, Saltville, Va., Nellie Ward and husband, Leslie, Roanoke, Va., Pearline Anderson and husband, Charlie, Meadowview; special friends, Betty Jo Chapman, Linda Larmer, Arlene Terry; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at the Bradley's Funeral Chapel Chilhowie with the Rev. Shirley Carter and the Rev. Bobby Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Westwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions can be made to a charity of ones choice in memory of Peggy.
