Ellisha Mainord (Maynard), the son of Simon and Hannah, was born 20 March 1703 at Marlborough, Massachusetts. [MA V/R] His father, Simon Maynard, the son of John Maynard and Mary Gates, was born in Marlborough, and died 19 January 1748 and Elisha's mother, Hannah died 5 April 1748. Elisha was one of 8 children born to Simon and Hannah.

Elisha Maynard acquired Shrewsbury lot #25 from Josiah Brown, and settled here between 1726–27. He built his cabin at the foot of Tower Hill Road (originally located in Shrewsbury, now Boylston), and later constructed a larger house at the top of the same road.


Elisha Maynard was one of the Boylston settlers associated with the separation of Boylston from Shrewsbury. In the early establishment of Boylston as it first was the North Parish of Shrewsbury, he became one of the founders of the Boylston Church. [Boylston Historical Series, 2012]
